Exciting News

I hope you have all enjoyed the summer and it has not been too hot where you are. Our summer has been cool with a smattering of nice days.

We are sharing some good news with you today as we are nearing the end of another busy and successful season.

On Thursday 25th August we found out that we had been shortlisted in the Highlands and Islands Food and Drink Awards for best Independent Retailer 2022. We were delighted and it was such a lovely suprise. Barra Gin also has 3 drinks nominated and Sandy Ferguson as Young Ambassador so it is a fantastic representation from a small island. Naomi and Laura are off to the Awards Ceremony on 28th October and we hope they have a great time and wish them, Sandy and Isle of Barra Distillers the best of luck.

On Friday 26th August it was announced that we were one of the inspiring small businesses chosen for the #SmallBiz100. We are honoured to be involved with such a fantastic group of businesses. The Bùth will be highlighted through #SmallBiz100 social media on 1st November so please look out for us and give us a like and a share.

These two awards couldn't come at a better time. On 13th September we have our hearing with the Scottish Government regarding the conditions CnES have placed on us if we purchase the building. We were delighted to have won the right to buy the building in January this year but that was shortlived as we realised that the conditions would make it difficult for us to raise the funding and have the time to renovate the building.

This is us now at the last stage, the final hurdle to buying and redeveloping the Old Co-op building and making it the community hub the islands of Barra and Vatersay deserve.

We would like to thank everyone for their valued support throughout our campaign to obtain the building and we will work hard to hopefully gain a positive outcome.
