The focus of Bùth Bharraigh is to help the communities of
Barra and Vatersay flourish by helping boost the local economy.
Bùth Bharraigh is a Community and Visitor Hub in the heart of Castlebay, Isle of Barra. As well as being a route to market for local products, it has a host of goods and services including visitor information, laundry service and refillery. The Bùth concentrates on filling in gaps in goods or service provision within the community. It also manages Castlebay Marina and Barra and Vatersay Rangers Service.
Bùth Bharraigh has a positive impact on the local economy. Not only do we use local suppliers where possible we also annually sell £60,000 goods annually for our local producers, book £40,000 worth of accommodation and facilitate a far greater local spend by signposting and bookings with other local businesses.
